Pure Filler Interview: Cary Elwes

Thirty years after the release of one of America’s most beloved films, The Princess Bride, we finally get to hear more about the fairytale adventures of Westley and Buttercup. Cary Elwes, who plays the movie’s steadfast protagonist, Westley, brings us back to the world of Counts and Princesses, mystical occurrences, R.O.U.S.s and six-fingered men with his new book, “As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride.” The nostalgic title alone would delight most fans, but the book offers so much more – co-written by Joe Layden (and most of the cast, as Elwes notes), the tell-all book is about the behind-the-scenes exploits of the movie’s on-screen adventures.

Pure Filler got to sit down with Elwes to discuss the book and get the skinny on the actors’ sword fighting preparation, favorite memories during the filming of the movie, and what, exactly, was up with that “Machine.”
